The City of Emory Development Corporation (EDC) was created in 1996 with overwhelming support from its citizens. The EDC is a Type B, not- for-profit corporation which provides long-term economic benefits to the community through investments in infrastructure (new and existing), business improvements including façades, and quality-of-life advancements for the community. The EDC uses board approved, one half cent sales tax revenues for these projects, which can stimulate economic growth, create jobs, aid existing businesses, attract new businesses and draw mission-aligned investors.
The EDC is made up of a Board of Directors appointed by the City Council. There are 7 individuals who volunteer to serve for a two-year board term. The EDC also consists of 3 full-time employees who act as Executive Director, Assistant to the Director and Beautification Tech.
